Partial Hospitalization Program Northbrook: Frequently Asked Questions

Each day in a PHP at CRC is structured similarly, with morning sessions focused on process-oriented groups and education. The afternoons will involve a form of experiential therapy that could include art therapy, meditation, yoga, or another expressive-based group. PHP occurs each weekday – Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. There is a lunch break from 12:00 - 12:30 PM each day. On average, there will be two or three group therapists working together to run the PHP program who you will work with in addition to your primary therapist. In PHP, you will also have an opportunity to work with our medical team in addressing any physical health-related goals and engage in holistic and regenerative offerings.
Individuals with a moderate or severe substance use disorder and/or individuals with a mental health diagnosis would be appropriate for PHP. People interested in CRC’s services will participate in a thorough and individualized assessment process and collaborate with the clinical team regarding what services would be most beneficial to them.
A majority of individuals will step down to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) after completing PHP. The gradual step-down in the intensity of levels of care helps apply newly-developed skills and continue to have adequate amounts of support in the process. This process will look different for each individual and will be a collaborative decision with your primary therapist.
